Cornwall is a really popular destination for weddings. With the outstanding scenery and relaxed vibe, many couples, some with links to the county and others who just love to visit, want to come to have their wedding ceremony here. We have many couples from abroad who “come home” and want to invite their guests to this romantic part of the UK.
For couples who live abroad, who are either UK nationals or not, the ability to legally marry in the UK has been made more difficult with the introduction of visas and a minimum 28 day waiting period after a 7 day residential requirement has been undertaken – the whole process taking more than month! This is quite difficult for many couples for work commitments and financially.
We offer a solution! We suggest that you legally get married in your country of residence, and then come to Cornwall for your special celebratory ceremony. By using Cornish Celebrants we can together create a bespoke wedding celebration which can include all the elements of a traditional wedding such as the giving of the bride, exchange of vows and rings, addition of readings, use of a best man, bridesmaids and ushers, signing of a register, presentation of celebratory certificate. We can also offer handfasting, “tie the knot”, sand ceremonies and other rituals and religious elements if desired, and include traditions from your home country and incorporate poems or readings in your native language into the ceremony. In addition we can conduct an elopement style ceremony for just the two of you – making the most of the spectacular backdrop Cornwall has to offer.
