Weddings are back! – Cornish Celebrants

24 Jun Weddings are back! – Cornish Celebrants

After so long waiting it’s great that weddings are back! Weddings can start again with some semblance of normality.

There are still some restrictions and some advisories, but one of the main barriers, numbers, has been lifted.

We had a very quiet year in 2020 waiting to see what would happen, we have moved dates – sometimes more than once – for our couples and tried to be as supportive as we can.

We have been a listening ear as brides and grooms have deliberated about the pros and cons about delaying their day. We have made suggestions about how to go forward, and now we are working with our couples to get them excited about their day again. Some couples (my own daughter included) went ahead with the legal ceremony during lockdown, with all the restrictions that bought, but now they want to get together with their wider family and friends and celebrate. Some couples are worried about how to have a ceremony which is meaningful so long after the legal one.

This is where our experience can help – with thousands of ceremonies behind us both as Registration Officers and Independent Celebrants – we have ideas and suggestions which can spark your imagination and speak to your hearts.

It’s been a difficult time for everyone and we all want to meet up with our nearest and dearest, and what better event could there be than a wedding celebration! They may have had to miss the legal ceremony but now they can witness you say your personal vows to each other, shout their support for you both, participate in a ritual with you – and, most importantly, be with you!

We want to reassure you that we are taking your COVID safety seriously and are undertaking a full risk assessment before each ceremony.

We have both been double jabbed, and are taking lateral flow tests twice a week, and we will also be taking one on the day before your ceremony. Our affiliates have also had both jabs, and they will also take a lateral flow test the day before your ceremony. You have the reassurance that should any of us be unable to conduct your ceremony due to a positive test, one of our handpicked affiliated celebrants will be able to cover. We will carry our own hand sanitiser which we will use before the ceremony; wipes, which will be used to wipe down surfaces, pens and our register if used. All our equipment (such as a PA and microphones) will also be wiped down once we have set up at the venue. Masks will be worn indoors until the ceremony is due to start. Finally, if the ceremony is not at a venue we will be taking a note of all guests with contact details.

Let’s hope that we are seeing the end of COVID in all its forms and we can enjoy celebrating with you!!
