5 Must Do Things Now You’re Engaged

You’ve been asked the question, you’ve said yes, congratulations! Now it’s time to start wedding planning but where do you start?

We have put together some top tips on what we think you should do next!!

1). A big necessity at the start of your wedding planning journey is to think about and set your budget. This may seem a little boring but it so so important as it enables you look positively at what you can do

2). Set a date (in fact – set a few alternative dates and see what is available) …..and be realistic.

3). Use your imagination and have a vision of what you would like to have for your wedding day – is it a church, hotel, or somewhere more unique?

4). Make a list of venues, and go and visit at least 3. Don’t be afraid to go and look again if you are unsure of anything

5). Make a list of photographers, florists, wedding dress shops and celebrants – meet with them, check reviews and then secure the booking as soon as possible. Some suppliers can get booked up years in advance!

Useful tips:
● If you decide to have a church wedding make contact with the vicar, if deciding on a celebrant make an appointment to meet up with them, and if you are going to be having a legal Registration Service wedding, be sure to telephone the registrars and book your date in and most importantly, ensure you understand all the legal requirements.
● Once you have booked all the big expenditure items, venue, celebrant, photographer, etc – have a review of your budget – what else do you need?
● Don’t worry about following trends…. decide on what you really want and what suits you as a couple. It is your big day to enjoy.

Finally and most importantly… enjoy your planning and try not to get too stressed. It will all come together and you will have an amazing day.
